The 'Director of Instruction' at Wedges and Woods. A certified golf instructor with over twenty five years experience. Jay trained under Jim Flick who has been recognized as the PGA teacher of the Year. Jay also served as head golf instructor and manager of Golf Augusta Pro Shops.

ABOUT JAY,

Jay Brooks learned to play golf at the age of eleven while his parents were stationed in Hawaii.  After six months of playing Jay won the Hawaiian Junior Golf Championship held at Waialae Country Club where the current PGA 'Sony Open' is held.  After transferring to New Jersey to attend High School Jay was a two-time New Jersey State High School Champion.

 

Jay attended college at 'Miami of Ohio' on a golf scholarship and was instrumental in the school winning the conference championship each year.

 

Jay played professional golf for three years after finishing school and decided to pursue a career in teaching.  Jay tutored under Jim Flick who later was the 1998 PGA Teacher of the Year recipient.  Mr. Flick teamed up with Jack Nicklaus to develop several Nicklaus/Flick Golf Academies throughout the country.

 

Jay invented a successful full sized putting game in 1991 called "Shuffle Golf" and for ten years operated a successful business selling the game to thousands of individuals and companies.  Miller Brewing company had a special version created for it's Stroh's non alcoholic brand. Mitsubishi Golf introduced it to Japan and ESPN televised the Corporate Sports Battle for several years featuring the game.  Arnold Palmer played the game while he was in Augusta for the Master's and was so impressed that he invited Jay to participate in a fundraiser for his Children's Hospital in Orlando Florida.

Jay's love and knowledge of the game has been instrumental in helping countless golfer's of all ages and abilities to reap a much more satisfying experience when playing the game.

The Augusta Golf Academy offers private lessons, women and men's group classes and clinics for all age and skill levels.  Instruction typically will encompass all areas of the game including set up, swing plane, body angles, club head speed and can be individually tailored to your needs or goals.

You'll see immediate results with our golf instruction because of excellent communication and easy to grasp swing fundamentals and proper techniques.
